Staff Portraits
This set of A3 portraits were created to give the viewer an insight into the range of jobs such as conservation assistants and head rangers that are required to keep the castle running on a day-to-day basis.
Most visitors to the Castle never consider that there are hundreds of other castle ruins across Scotland where people have left them to fall into disrepair yet Crathes Castle has survived due to generations of family and staff who have worked towards the castles upkeep. These people are as good as invisible to time and history but without them the castle would not be standing today. To investigate these roles I have interviewed seven members of staff who work across a broad range of roles at the castle and then created a portrait/illustration that highlights each person and shows elements of their work.
